Andrea Laszlo De Simone won the César Award – the most important French cinema awards – for the best original music of Le Règne Animal, a feature film by Thomas Cailley, which was an extraordinary success in France and was nominated for 12 statuettes and he won five of them, behind only Anatomy of a Fall, the film by Justine Triet also nominated for an Oscar, and which will arrive in Italian cinemas on 20 June. The Italian musician and singer-songwriter is the first Italian artist to win this award at the French awards and was only the second candidate, after Ennio Morricone.

Laszlo De Simone's victory

His label, 42Records (which has in its roster artists such as Colapesce and Cosmo, among others) celebrated its artist by writing: “We are still excited, incredulous, euphoric and happy. One night is not enough to metabolize the news: Andrea Laszlo De Simone won the César Prix as composer of the best original soundtrack for Le Règne Animal. An incredible recognition for Andrea, but also for all of us who share this extraordinary journey with him, continuing to travel at a speed that is all ours . Good boy!”. For now, the singer-songwriter has only posted an image of himself with the award.

Before the award ceremony he explained : “I'm proud to have taken part in the making of the film that obtained the highest number of nominations (twelve to be precise) and I'm equally proud to be nominated too. Obviously I'm also scared because of my I'm now known for my shyness, but I'm happy – says Andrea Laszlo De Simone. One day my father told me: “when in doubt, always take the longest route” and I consider it valuable advice. So I didn't arrive here by plane. I started just over a year ago from a beautiful screenplay and I'm here thanks to an important film… and thanks to music… music is my favorite means of transport.”
