'Israel does not go to Cairo, partial responses from Hamas'

Hamas forwarded only “partial responses” from Cairo and Israel decided not to send a delegation to Egypt. This was reported by the Israeli media, which spoke of “a climate of crisis” regarding the negotiations for the exchange of prisoners. A political source, quoted by public radio Kan, stated that “Hamas does not back down from its absurd requests and does not provide answers. Until we have truthful and concrete answers there is no point in sending any delegation to Cairo”.

Representatives of Hamas , Qatar and the United States are in Cairo to negotiate a truce and the release of hostages in Gaza, according to media close to the government of Egypt, a country that has taken on a mediating role in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

A senior Hamas official had said that a truce in the Gaza Strip would be possible “within 24-48 hours” if Israel accepted the Palestinian Islamic movement's demands.
