The concession will last thirty-three years and ten months. The works for the renovation of the Cornelia car park will start at the end of summer 2024. It will take a year and ten months, the remaining thirty-two will see the management of the service under concession.
The car park in Cornelia will reopen. The renovation will be financed by a private individual who won the tender. The Municipality of Rome has in fact announced that the promoter Rti No Problem Parking has signed the contract with Si.Ge.A. Buildings. The concession will last thirty-three years and ten months. The works for the arrangement of the car park, as announced by the Campidoglio, will start, if there are no problems, by the end of summer 2024. The design and construction of the works will take one year and ten months, while the remaining thirty-two years will see the management of the concession service. Therefore the car park will not open in time for the 2025 Jubilee, but it will still be an important space for citizens who will be able to use it to take the A metro.

The Cornelia multi-storey car park we are talking about is an existing space previously used as a car park. Inaugurated in 2001, it remained open for a few years, until it was closed in 2006 due to automation problems. The intervention for the arrangement of the car park is totally financed by the private individual who won the tender as mentioned. It consists in the awarding of a concession through project financing for the design, refunctionalization and management of the existing car park below the Cornelia ring road which has the capacity of approximately 250 parking spaces. A space that will soon, hopefully, be available to citizens again.

Mobility councilor Eugenio Patanè commented on the signing of the contract with the investor and defined it as “the last administrative-bureaucratic step of the process that will lead to the creation of the Cornelia car park: an infrastructure which, with its approximately 250 stalls, will have a strategic function both as an interchange for Metro A and to remove cars from the road in view of the construction of the Termini-Vatican-Aurelio tramway. This is a work awaited for many years by the citizens of a quadrant of the a city which, between the metro, commercial activities and healthcare facilities, has an enormous need for parking.”
